Blacksburg, VA – The National Weather Service in Blacksburg says rain chances will increase across Virginia early this week as a cold front approaches, bringing widespread wet weather Tuesday into Wednesday.

Most of the region has at least a 50% chance of receiving a quarter inch or more of rain, with the best odds along and north of the Roanoke and New River valleys. The system will move through by Wednesday night, ushering in colder and drier air just in time for Thanksgiving Day.

Highs will dip into the 40s and 50s by Thursday, with chilly mornings in the 30s to start the holiday weekend.
