Blacksburg, VA – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Blacksburg reports that Saturday will be mild and calm, with highs in the 60s to lower 70s and only some increasing afternoon clouds.
A strong cold front will sweep through the region on Sunday, bringing rain chances and cooler air to the mountains first. Ahead of the front, temperatures will remain warm — but behind it, much colder air and strong northwest winds will arrive Sunday night.
By Monday and Tuesday, highs will only reach the 20s and 30s west of the Blue Ridge and the 40s in the Piedmont, marking a winter-like start to the week. The NWS also notes that light snow showers will be possible in the western mountains due to upslope flow.
