Blacksburg, Virginia – Morning fog gave way to sun in Blacksburg Sunday, but residents should brace for an unsettled stretch beginning Tuesday, with daily rain and thunder chances building midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Monday will remain mostly sunny with highs near 77°F. However, by Tuesday afternoon, a weak disturbance will move into southwest Virginia, bringing a 20% chance of isolated showers. Rain chances rise sharply to 50% by Wednesday, with scattered thunderstorms developing across Montgomery County and surrounding areas.

Showers could cause slick roads during evening commutes on Wednesday and Thursday. With some storms capable of brief downpours, drivers should allow extra travel time and avoid flooded low spots. Calm winds and temperatures in the low 70s will keep heat risks low, but increasing humidity may lead to patchy fog again overnight.

Conditions remain unsettled through Friday, when another round of afternoon thunderstorms is possible. Expect more widespread clearing and sun by Saturday.

Additional rain chances may be added midweek, so residents should monitor updates and prepare for shifting conditions through Friday night.
