Blacksburg, VA – Residents in the New River Valley should prepare for a cold and blustery start to the week, with scattered flurries and gusty winds expected overnight into Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg.

Light snow showers could develop late Sunday and early Monday, particularly in higher elevations, though accumulations are expected to remain minimal. Temperatures will hover in the mid-30s overnight before climbing to around 38°F Monday afternoon.

Winds from the west will increase to 15 mph, with gusts reaching 30–31 mph, producing wind chills near 20°F at times. The NWS warns that slick spots may form on bridges and untreated roads during the morning commute.

Conditions will quickly improve by Veterans Day, bringing sunny skies and highs near 39°F, followed by a gradual warm-up through midweek. By Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures are expected to rebound into the mid-50s, with sunshine continuing into the weekend.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and use caution while driving in areas of blowing snow or reduced visibility.
