Blacksburg, VA – Residents across Virginia can expect cloudier skies this Saturday with only limited chances of rain, according to the National Weather Service office in Blacksburg.
Forecasters report that isolated afternoon showers may develop, mainly along and north of Interstate 64. However, any rainfall that occurs will be light and is unlikely to provide much relief from the region’s ongoing dry spell.
According to the NWS, cloud cover will be noticeably greater today than in recent days. Afternoon highs are forecast to reach the upper 70s to low 80s, keeping conditions seasonably warm despite the added cloudiness.
The probability of precipitation remains low for most of the area, with the highest chances focused in central and northern Virginia. Areas south of Roanoke and Wytheville are expected to remain largely dry.
This weekend’s pattern continues a trend of limited rainfall across the state, which has contributed to increasingly dry conditions in parts of the region. While the brief showers may dampen a few locations, forecasters stress that widespread, soaking rain is not in the outlook today.
Drivers traveling on I-64 should be aware of brief wet conditions this afternoon, though no significant travel hazards are expected.
