Black River Falls, WI – A routine traffic stop in Jackson County led to two felony arrests after deputies reportedly discovered drugs and signs of impairment late Sunday night.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy conducted the stop at about 9:11 p.m. Sunday in the City of Black River Falls. Authorities identified the driver as Matthew Hair, 39, of Boyd, who allegedly showed signs of impairment and admitted to consuming fentanyl and methamphetamine. He was arrested after field sobriety testing.

Deputies reported locating suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. A passenger, identified as Summer Copeland, 26, of Boyd, allegedly also showed signs of impairment.

Hair was booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges including Operating While Intoxicated, 6th Offense, Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, deputies said.

Copeland was also taken into custody and booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of Felony Bail Jumping, Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Authorities added she was being held on a probation detainer.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that all parties involved are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
