Wilmington, OH — Residents across central and southern Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeast Indiana are facing dangerously cold wind chills tonight through early Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
Forecast maps show wind chill values near or below zero across much of the region, with some locations dipping to −10 degrees or colder, especially overnight Sunday into early Monday morning. These conditions significantly increase the risk of frostbite and hypothermia for anyone exposed to the cold for extended periods.
The coldest conditions are expected:
- Sunday daytime: Wind chills mostly between −5 and −15
- Sunday night into Monday morning: Wind chills bottoming out near −10 or lower in spots
The National Weather Service urges residents to limit time outdoors, dress in multiple layers, and ensure pets are brought indoors. Extra caution is advised for those commuting early Monday morning, as extreme cold can also strain vehicles and infrastructure.
While the cold will linger into Monday morning, temperatures are expected to moderate by mid-week, bringing gradual relief from the Arctic air mass.
