Burlington, VT – A powerful winter storm will hit Vermont this weekend, bringing heavy snow, sleet, and strong winds. Dangerous travel conditions and potential power outages are expected.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm will begin Saturday night, intensifying Sunday with snowfall of 6 to 12 inches in some areas. Ice accumulation will create hazardous roads, especially in the Green Mountains. Winds may reach 40 mph, making whiteout conditions likely.
Sunday will see snow transitioning to sleet by noon, followed by more snow into Monday. Highs will reach 28°F Sunday before dropping to near zero Monday night. Strong winds will drive wind chills even lower.
Residents should avoid unnecessary travel and prepare for potential power outages. By Tuesday, conditions will improve with partly sunny skies, though temperatures will remain bitterly cold.
Looking ahead, an arctic blast next week will bring subzero wind chills across Vermont and much of the U.S. Stay updated with official forecasts and take necessary precautions.
