BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Central Alabama is in for another round of afternoon thunderstorms as humid air keeps shower activity elevated through midweek. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s today, with heat and moisture combining to fuel daily storm chances.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, the best opportunity for rain will come in the late afternoon and early evening hours each day, with the potential for heavy downpours and lightning. Highs today range from 84° in Clanton to 89° in Jasper, while overnight lows will hover in the low 70s.

Cities including Hamilton, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, and Auburn could all see storms form after 2 p.m. today. Drivers should be alert for ponding on roads during heavy rain, and residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items that could blow around in strong gusts.

By Thursday, highs will rise into the lower 90s in several spots, keeping the atmosphere primed for more storms. Rain chances will taper off slightly by the weekend, but scattered showers will still be possible
