Birmingham, Alabama – A stretch of quiet and seasonable weather will give way to a noticeable cool-down across central Alabama by the end of the week, following a brief chance for showers midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, fair weather will continue through Wednesday morning before a few showers develop Wednesday afternoon and linger into Wednesday night. Rain amounts are expected to be light, but clouds and increasing moisture will signal an approaching pattern change.
Temperatures will remain near typical January levels through Wednesday, with highs generally in the 40s and 50s and overnight lows dipping into the 20s and 30s. Cities including Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, Anniston, and Gadsden will see mild afternoons compared to recent days, making midweek one of the more comfortable periods of the week.
Colder air moves in behind the midweek system, with temperatures falling below normal starting Thursday and continuing into the weekend. Highs are expected to drop into the 30s and 40s, while overnight lows trend colder, especially in rural and higher-elevation areas.
Residents should prepare for a cooler end to the week, particularly during morning and evening hours. While no widespread hazardous weather is expected at this time, officials recommend staying updated as colder conditions settle in and could influence travel and outdoor plans heading into the weekend.
