Birmingham, Ala. – Central Alabama residents will face another hot, humid day with highs climbing into the low to mid-90s, but isolated thunderstorms may disrupt the evening commute. The National Weather Service in Birmingham reports a slight chance of storms developing this afternoon into tonight, with another round expected Friday afternoon.

According to the Weather Service, temperatures will peak near 95° in Tuscaloosa, 94° in Montgomery, and 92° in Birmingham, while overnight lows settle into the mid-60s. Areas such as Selma and Demopolis could also see highs in the mid-90s under partly cloudy skies.

While storms are not expected to be widespread, forecasters warn any pop-up cells could produce brief heavy rain and lightning. Drivers in Birmingham, Clanton, and Anniston are urged to slow down during sudden downpours, as slick roads will be a concern heading into the evening hours. Outdoor events may also see quick delays due to thunder.

Warm, summerlike conditions remain the theme into the weekend. A better chance for storms may return early next week if moisture levels increase.
