BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Central Alabama will trade its cool morning air for a stretch of damp weather as rain moves in from the west tonight and lingers into Friday. Highs will hover in the low to mid-80s today before showers spread across the region, slowing down outdoor and travel plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, increasing clouds will blanket much of the state by this evening, with rain chances rising overnight. Temperatures will dip into the mid-60s tonight, but steady moisture is expected to keep conditions muggy.

Cities along I-65, including Birmingham, Clanton, and Montgomery, are likely to see wet roads during the evening commute. Tuscaloosa and Demopolis could pick up early rounds of rainfall, while Gadsden and Anniston remain under a similar threat through late Friday. Drivers are urged to allow extra time on the roads and avoid standing water.

By Friday, highs will cool slightly into the upper 70s and low 80s, but rain chances will continue, leaving limited windows for outdoor activities.

Showers are expected to remain on and off through Friday evening, with additional updates possible if storm activity develops.
