Birmingham, Ala. – A stretch of hot, summerlike weather continues across Alabama, with highs in the low to mid-90s and a chance of scattered afternoon thunderstorms through Saturday. While storms will be hit or miss, the heat will remain the more consistent factor for residents across central and northern parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, most areas will top out between 92 and 95 degrees Friday afternoon, with Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, and Selma expected to hit the mid-90s. Storm chances stay slim, but a brief downpour or thunderstorm could develop in the late afternoon, especially in western Alabama counties.

Overnight lows will bring some relief, dipping into the upper 60s to near 70. That pattern holds through the weekend, with Saturday highs again climbing into the 90s before gradually cooling down early next week. Birmingham is forecast to reach 93 Saturday, while Tuscaloosa could see 95 once more.

Drivers should use caution during pop-up storms, as brief heavy rain could reduce visibility on interstates including I-20, I-65, and I-59. Outdoor plans should remain flexible given the storm risk, though most locations will stay dry.

Temperatures remain hot through Saturday before slightly cooler air pushes in. More updates are expected as the weekend develops.
