Birmingham, Ala. – A taste of fall has settled across central Alabama this week, with morning lows dipping into the upper 50s and lower 60s through early next week. The unusual late-August cool down follows a cold front that pushed across the Southeast, bringing below-normal temperatures to much of the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, the coolest spots include Anniston, Hamilton, and Jasper, where lows are expected to bottom out near 56°F several mornings. Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Montgomery will hover in the low 60s before warming into the 80s each afternoon.
The cooler mornings offer a break for commuters, joggers, and early risers, though residents should still expect warm afternoons with highs between 82°F and 87°F through Wednesday. Conditions will stay generally dry until late week, when scattered showers could return.
Forecasters note the relief is temporary, as summer heat is likely to rebuild in September. For now, residents are encouraged to enjoy the comfortable mornings and keep jackets handy for sunrise starts.
