Birmingham, Ala. – Afternoon skies across Central Alabama could turn stormy through Wednesday as an active weather pattern keeps showers and thunderstorms in the daily mix. Temperatures will climb into the mid-to-upper 80s before rain chances spike during the heat of the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, the best opportunity for storms will come each afternoon, with locally heavy rainfall and brief lightning hazards possible. The highest rain coverage today stretches from Tuscaloosa and Demopolis eastward through Montgomery, Clanton, and Auburn, with a 50–60% chance of precipitation in many spots.

Motorists should remain alert for sudden downpours that can reduce visibility and pond water on roads. Outdoor plans, particularly in the afternoon, may need quick adjustments as storms develop. While severe weather is not widespread, isolated gusty winds cannot be ruled out.

This unsettled stretch will continue into Wednesday, with highs nearing 90 degrees in Hamilton, Tuscaloosa, and Jasper. Drier air is expected to gradually return late week.
