Birmingham, AL – Residents across Central Alabama will see more showers and thunderstorms today and Friday before skies clear over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
The agency reported that multiple cities, including Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, and Gadsden, have rain chances ranging between 50% and 90% through Friday. After that, conditions are expected to dry out, with clear skies and generally rain-free weather carrying into next week.
According to the National Weather Service forecast map released Thursday, Tuscaloosa has the highest short-term rain probability, with an 88% chance of showers through Friday. Montgomery and Birmingham also face elevated storm risks before conditions ease Saturday.
The pattern shift comes after several damp days across the region. By Saturday, most of Alabama should see only a 5% chance of rain, with the forecast remaining near zero percent through midweek.
Meteorologists urge residents to remain alert for thunderstorms today and Friday, as brief heavy downpours may still affect travel and outdoor activities. Those planning weekend events, however, can expect much more favorable weather.
