Birmingham, Alabama – Temperatures across Alabama are climbing quickly this afternoon, with highs pushing past 80°F by midweek before a weekend front trims readings back into the 70s.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, a cold front moving through Monday is briefly cooling conditions through early Wednesday morning, but a rapid warmup will follow. Highs are expected to reach between 81°F and 85°F across central Alabama by Wednesday afternoon, with cities like Birmingham hitting 83°F and Montgomery nearing 86°F.

The warming trend will impact commuters and outdoor plans statewide, especially along I-65 and I-20 corridors where afternoon heat builds quickly. Tuscaloosa and Troy will also see highs in the mid-80s by Thursday, increasing early spring heat exposure during peak daylight hours. Residents are urged to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

By early Saturday morning, another front will move in, dropping highs into the upper 60s and low 70s across much of central Alabama. Rain chances remain limited, meaning dry but cooler conditions for weekend events.

More updates could follow if the weekend front strengthens or rain chances increase.
