Birmingham, AL – Another soggy weekend is ahead for Central Alabama, as rounds of rain are expected to continue through Sunday night before drier air moves in early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, rain will decrease in coverage this morning (Friday) but will redevelop in southern and eastern areas by the afternoon. Showers are expected to persist mainly across southern Alabama through Saturday, then spread back north into much of the region by Sunday.

Rainfall totals are forecast to range from 0.1 to 1 inch, with the heaviest amounts likely along and south of the I-85 corridor, including cities such as Montgomery, Troy, and Eufaula. Northwestern counties are expected to see lighter totals.

Forecasters advise residents to keep storm drains and gutters clear of debris, especially in areas prone to ponding or localized flooding. Conditions should improve Sunday night as a drier air mass moves into the region to start the new week.
