Birmingham, AL – A Heat Advisory remains in effect for southeastern counties in Alabama today as a hot and humid air mass lingers across the region. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s, with heat indices soaring to 107 degrees in some areas. Residents in Montgomery, Auburn, and surrounding areas are urged to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the heat.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, the heat advisory will continue through 9 PM tonight. While drier air is expected to move in from the north over the next few days, southeastern Alabama will continue to experience oppressive conditions today. The region can expect daytime highs in the low to mid-90s, with a slight chance of isolated showers in the far southeastern part of the state.
As the day progresses, relief is on the way with nighttime temperatures dropping to the low 70s, providing some respite from the intense daytime heat. The cooler air will be more noticeable in northern parts of Alabama, where overnight lows could dip into the upper 60s.
