Birmingham, AL – A stretch of cooler and wetter weather is on the way for Alabama as rain chances increase through the early part of the week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham.
Forecasters say cloud cover and steady rain chances will help keep daytime temperatures below normal, with most areas seeing highs in the low to mid-60s through Monday. Overnight lows are expected to dip into the 50s across much of central and northern Alabama.
According to the latest forecast issued early Sunday, October 26, rain chances will continue to rise from west to east into Monday. Light showers and occasional drizzle are expected for many areas, particularly along the I-65 corridor from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham and north toward Gadsden.
The cooler air will remain in place behind the cloud cover, limiting sunshine and keeping afternoon temperatures mild. Monday’s highs will range from the upper 50s in the northeast to upper 60s in the southern counties.
While rainfall totals are not expected to be heavy, the NWS notes that periods of light rain and damp conditions could affect outdoor activities and early-week commutes. Drier and slightly warmer conditions are possible later in the week once the system moves east.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts for updated rain coverage and timing.
