Birmingham, AL – Residents across Alabama are experiencing a stretch of hot weather this weekend, with temperatures climbing into the low to mid-90s and little immediate relief in sight.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, the heat will persist through at least Wednesday, when a cold front is forecast to move into the region. The front is expected to drop temperatures several degrees and bring a chance of much-needed rain to the state.

Current forecasts show highs ranging from 90 to 95 degrees in cities such as Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, and Huntsville. By midweek, temperatures could dip into the mid-80s, with slightly cooler conditions expected to follow into late week.

In addition to the heat, drought conditions remain a growing concern. The Weather Service reports that abnormally dry to moderate drought is now present across much of central Alabama, with a small area of severe drought identified. Officials warn that the drought could worsen if the region continues to experience hot and dry weather.

Forecasters encourage residents to stay hydrated, limit time outdoors during peak heat, and monitor updates for possible rainfall later in the week.
