Binghamton, NY – A weak disturbance passing north of the region is bringing scattered showers across Central New York today, starting as light snow before transitioning to a rain/snow mix by afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton.
Snow showers began early this morning, with precipitation becoming more mixed as temperatures rise into the low to mid-40s. Higher elevations above 1,500 feet will have the best chance of seeing light snow accumulations, generally limited to a trace to a few tenths of an inch.
By this evening, lake-effect snow showers will linger across parts of northern and central New York, tapering off overnight. Roads may become briefly slick in colder valleys and hilltops late Sunday.
Forecasters expect conditions to improve Monday with partly cloudy skies and seasonable highs.
