Binghamton, NY – Central New York could see its first notable snowfall of the season early next week as a new system moves in, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton.

Forecast models show a developing lake effect snow setup beginning Monday night and continuing through Tuesday evening. Current projections indicate a 40–70% chance of more than one inch of snow across much of the region, including Cortland, Ithaca, and Syracuse, with the highest probabilities in areas east and southeast of Lake Ontario.

While there remains some uncertainty in timing, placement, and totals, forecasters are increasingly confident that at least light accumulations will occur.

Temperatures are expected to stay cold enough Monday night and Tuesday for slick roads and reduced visibility, especially in higher elevations and traditional lake-effect zones.

Residents should monitor updated forecasts through the weekend as the event draws closer and details become clearer.
