Binghamton, NY – The National Weather Service in Binghamton has continued a Wind Advisory from 11 a.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Saturday, warning of westerly gusts up to 50 mph across much of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.

According to the NWS, sustained winds between 15 and 25 mph will strengthen this afternoon, with the highest gusts expected late Friday into the overnight hours. The advisory covers a large region including Syracuse, Binghamton, Ithaca, Elmira, Utica, Scranton, and Wilkes-Barre.

Forecasters caution that the gusty winds could blow down small tree limbs and lead to isolated power outages, especially in higher terrain or rural areas. Residents are urged to secure outdoor decorations and lightweight objects ahead of the strongest gusts.

The advisory includes numerous counties such as Broome, Tioga, Onondaga, Delaware, Otsego, Chenango, Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Pike, where breezy conditions may linger into early Saturday morning before easing.

Drivers—particularly those in high-profile vehicles—should use extra caution on open roads, bridges, and ridgelines due to crosswinds.
