BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Warm, dry weather will dominate the Southern Tier and nearby Northeast Pennsylvania today as high pressure settles over the region. Skies will stay mostly sunny, winds light, and humidity low, offering a late-summer feel. A brief, passing shower remains possible this evening across northeast Pennsylvania into the Catskills.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, afternoon highs will reach the upper 80s in Binghamton, Ithaca, and Elmira, with Scranton likely topping out near 90 degrees. Residents from Syracuse to Hazleton can expect similar warmth, though temperatures will begin to shift this weekend.

Saturday will run even hotter, with mid-80s to low 90s across much of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania. The NWS warns of a chance for afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms, especially in areas west of I-81. Sunday’s cold front will drop highs into the 70s while bringing widespread rain showers and scattered storms.

Cooler, more comfortable air will persist into early next week, with daytime highs in the 70s and overnight lows dipping into the 50s.
