Binghamton, NY – Residents across Central New York and the Southern Tier can expect scattered showers and drizzle to linger overnight as a coastal low-pressure system continues to spin off the New Jersey coast, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton.
Forecasters say the light rain will persist through the night and into early Tuesday morning, gradually tapering off by late morning. Temperatures will dip into the mid to upper 40s, keeping conditions cool and damp across much of the region.
Radar imagery Monday evening showed areas of light rain extending from Elmira and Ithaca to Binghamton, Cooperstown, and Montrose, Pennsylvania. The wet pattern is expected to improve by midday Tuesday, with partial clearing and calmer conditions returning by afternoon.
Drivers are urged to use caution during the morning commute, as patchy drizzle could reduce visibility and create slick spots on roads.
Looking ahead, forecasters expect drier and seasonably cool weather to return midweek as the coastal system moves farther east.
