Binghamton, NY –Drivers in the Binghamton area should brace for another round of dense fog early Saturday, following a Dense Fog Advisory in effect overnight through 8 a.m. Friday. While visibility may improve briefly Friday afternoon, patchy fog is expected to return after midnight and linger through much of Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, Friday will begin with dense fog reducing visibility to a quarter-mile or less before 9 a.m. Calm conditions and overnight moisture will allow more fog to develop after midnight into Saturday, especially in low-lying areas near Vestal, Endicott, and along Route 17 and I-88. Saturday’s fog may be slower to clear, with isolated areas of low visibility lasting past 10 a.m.

Travelers should be cautious during the early morning hours. Use low-beam headlights, reduce speed, and leave extra space between vehicles—especially near river valleys and rural routes.

Once the fog lifts, Saturday turns warm and mostly sunny, with highs in the upper 70s. Patchy fog is likely again overnight into Sunday, repeating the early-morning hazard pattern.

Another advisory could be issued if fog intensifies Saturday or returns earlier than expected.
