Binghamton, NY – Bitter cold is set to grip Binghamton through the weekend, with subzero wind chills and freezing conditions expected. Travelers along I-81 are urged to exercise caution as icy patches may develop overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday began with temperatures plunging to 8°F, with a wind chill of -2°F. Winds will shift from the southeast to southwest this afternoon, bringing slightly milder air but maintaining highs around 25°F. Tonight, temperatures will drop to a low of 12°F under partly cloudy skies.

Friday will remain cold but calm, with highs near 25°F and a northwest breeze at 3–8 mph. Overnight, temperatures will fall to 7°F, bringing dangerously cold conditions. Motorists traveling early Saturday should expect frost and reduced visibility due to lingering fog.

Saturday will be partly sunny, with temperatures peaking at 25°F before another bitterly cold night, with lows near 20°F. The region will see mostly cloudy skies Sunday, with highs rebounding to 32°F.

The cold will ease Monday, with highs climbing to 33°F under sunny skies. A chance of snow showers could return Tuesday. Residents are advised to dress warmly, check on neighbors, and prepare vehicles for the cold.
