Binghamton, New York — Light accumulating snow is expected to affect the Binghamton area from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service in Binghamton reports that the next weather system will bring generally light snowfall totals, with 1 to 2 inches expected in and around the city. Snow is forecast to begin Wednesday afternoon and continue at times through Thursday evening.
Snowfall amounts increase farther north and west of the city, where 2 to 4 inches are possible, with locally higher totals of 4 to 6 inches across portions of central New York, including areas near Syracuse and the Tug Hill region. Amounts decrease south of Binghamton into northeast Pennsylvania.
Forecasters emphasized that while snowfall in the Binghamton metro is expected to remain light, periods of snow during commute hours could still lead to slick roads and reduced visibility, especially Wednesday evening and early Thursday.
No winter weather advisories or warnings have been issued for the city at this time. Snowfall rates are expected to remain light, and significant disruptions are not anticipated.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as the system approaches, particularly if traveling north toward higher snowfall zones.
This forecast may be especially relevant for commuters traveling along I-81, NY-17, and local roads during midweek travel periods.
