Binghamton, NY – A quick round of light snow showers and flurries is expected to move across Central New York overnight into early Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton.

Forecasters said lake-effect snow showers lifting north this evening will give way to a fast-moving band of snow spreading from west to east between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday. The brief system could bring a coating of snow in spots, especially along higher terrain and untreated roads.

According to high-resolution forecast guidance, another upper-level disturbance will follow later Wednesday, bringing scattered rain and snow showers through the day, mainly across the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions.

Daytime highs Wednesday are expected to range from the upper 30s to mid-40s, with the coldest readings across Oneida and Otsego counties. While significant accumulation isn’t expected, forecasters caution that slick spots could develop during the morning commute, particularly on bridges and overpasses.

Conditions are forecast to briefly improve by Thursday before another system brings unsettled weather late in the week.
