Binghamton, NY – A quick-moving clipper system will bring periods of light snow and flurries across central New York this afternoon through tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton.

Most areas can expect a coating to around 2 inches of accumulation, with locally higher amounts up to 3 inches possible in northern Oneida and Onondaga Counties. Areas farther south into northeastern Pennsylvania are expected to see little to no accumulation.

Snow is forecast to taper off by late evening, though lingering lake-effect flurries may continue into early Monday. Daytime highs will remain chilly, holding in the low to mid-30s across much of the region, with overnight lows dipping below freezing.

Forecasters warn of slick spots on untreated roads, especially during the evening commute and in higher elevations north of the Southern Tier. Drivers are urged to reduce speed and allow extra travel time.
