Binghamton, NY — Residents should brace for a cool, damp start to the week as rain showers move into the area Monday evening. While today remains mostly cloudy with drizzle and fog, temperatures will hover near 45°F before the next system brings rain overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected tonight into early Tuesday, followed by a mostly sunny break during the day. Highs will climb to 49°F Tuesday before clouds return. By Wednesday, temperatures cool, and residents could see a mix of rain and snow showers by late morning, turning to snow showers Wednesday night as lows drop to around 30°F.

Wednesday will be the most impactful weather day of the week, with a 70% chance of rain and snow showers, especially into the evening. Gusty southeast winds could complicate visibility, particularly along major roadways like I-81 and Route 17, as precipitation increases. Drivers are advised to exercise caution during commutes.

Thursday’s forecast remains cold, with daytime highs near 34°F and mostly cloudy skies. A slight chance of lingering snow showers could impact early morning travel. Looking toward the weekend, conditions stay chilly with daytime highs in the low 30s and additional snow showers possible Friday and Saturday.

Residents should monitor local updates and prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility midweek. Layer up, keep an eye on road conditions, and allow extra travel time.
