Binghamton, New York – A major winter storm is expected to bring significant snowfall to central New York and northeast Pennsylvania late this weekend, with dangerous travel conditions likely through Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect as snowfall totals of 12 to 18 inches are forecast across the Binghamton area and surrounding communities. Little change has been made to the latest forecast, with confidence remaining high in both timing and totals.

Snow is expected to begin late Saturday night, intensifying on Sunday and continuing through Monday evening. Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly once snowfall becomes steady, with snow-covered roads, reduced visibility, and possible delays to schools, businesses, and transportation.

Before snow arrives, forecasters warn of very cold conditions tonight and Saturday morning, which could contribute to icy spots on untreated roads and worsen impacts once precipitation begins.

The heaviest snow is expected during the daytime hours Sunday, with difficult travel likely across Broome County and along major routes including Interstate 81. Motorists are urged to avoid unnecessary travel during peak snowfall periods and prepare vehicles for winter conditions.

Residents are advised to complete storm preparations early and continue monitoring official updates as conditions evolve through Monday.
