Binghamton, NY – A cool and damp start to the week is underway across upstate New York as an area of low pressure off the Mid-Atlantic coast brings periods of light rain and drizzle to the region, according to the US National Weather Service Binghamton.
Forecasters say the steadiest rain will fall east of I-81, while areas farther west see lighter, more intermittent showers throughout the day. High temperatures will stay in the upper 40s to mid-50s, with overcast skies keeping conditions gray and chilly.
According to the Weather Service, rain showers will taper off by this evening, leading to a cooler and drier stretch from Tuesday through Thursday. A brief warm-up is expected heading into the weekend before another system brings a return to active weather late Sunday into early next week.
Drivers should use caution on wet roads and allow extra travel time during the morning and evening commute.
