Binghamton, N.Y. – Scorching heat continues to grip much of central New York, with temperatures climbing into the 90s through midweek before a midweek cold front brings scattered storms and welcome relief.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, Monday and Tuesday will remain dry and hot, with highs in the upper 80s to mid 90s across cities like Syracuse, Binghamton, and Elmira. A cold front is expected to push through on Wednesday, triggering scattered showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon hours.
The hottest locations Monday include Elmira at 93°F, Corning at 92°F, and Wilkes-Barre near 90°F — all well above seasonal averages. Normal highs for late July are around 78°F in Binghamton and 82°F in Syracuse.
By Thursday, cooler air will filter in, dropping highs into the 70s and low 80s. Showers and isolated storms may linger, especially in the Catskills and northeast Pennsylvania.
