Binghamton, NY – The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Winter Storm Watch for much of New York’s Southern Tier and Catskill regions, warning of heavy snow totaling 7 inches or more from late Monday night through Tuesday evening.

Counties under the watch include Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Sullivan, and Tioga, with major cities such as Binghamton, Norwich, Oneonta, Walton, and Monticello expected to see widespread snow and dangerous travel conditions.

Forecasters say the storm could begin overnight Monday, intensifying through Tuesday morning, with the heaviest snow likely during the morning and evening commutes. Reduced visibility and snow-covered roads are expected to make travel very difficult.

Residents are urged to monitor updated forecasts as the system approaches and to prepare for possible delays or cancellations on Tuesday. The NWS also advises motorists to carry emergency supplies and avoid unnecessary travel if conditions deteriorate.

The Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday evening, as forecasters continue to track the system’s strength and exact snowfall totals.
