Billings, MT – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Billings is cautioning residents across eastern Montana to prepare for possible wintry travel impacts as a weather system moves through the region late Monday into Tuesday.
According to the NWS, the system is expected to bring rain and snow mix initially, turning to all snow by late Monday night. Strong winds may also lead to blowing and drifting snow, especially across far eastern Montana, potentially reducing visibility for morning commuters.
While the current outlook suggests isolated to scattered precipitation, the agency noted that impactful winter weather conditions may still develop in localized areas. The greatest chance for slippery roads and reduced visibility is expected between Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
Residents and travelers are urged to stay tuned for forecast updates, particularly if planning travel along eastern Montana highways. The NWS advises allowing extra time for commutes and keeping emergency winter kits in vehicles.
Updates will be posted through weather.gov/billings and official NWS social media channels as conditions evolve.
