Billings, Montana – Dangerous heat and the threat of strong afternoon storms will collide across southeast Montana Saturday, with highs climbing to the mid-90s in Billings, Miles City, and Hysham. Storms could bring gusty winds and hail east of Rosebud County, potentially impacting evening plans across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Billings, the strongest storms are expected late Saturday afternoon and into the evening, especially east of Roundup and Lame Deer. These storms may produce damaging wind gusts, small hail, and sudden downpours.

Temperatures will soar across the state, with highs topping 95°F in Billings and Columbus, 94°F in Miles City and Jordan, and 91°F in Harlowton. The heat, combined with increased humidity, could elevate the risk for heat-related illnesses. Outdoor workers and anyone with afternoon plans should hydrate frequently and monitor the sky for developing storms.

Residents in rural areas east of I-94 should secure outdoor items and stay tuned to weather alerts in case warnings are issued. Drivers should be cautious during storm bursts, as visibility may drop rapidly.

The severe storm window extends through Saturday evening, with cooler conditions likely returning by late Sunday.
