Billings, MT – Montana residents should be on alert today as the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a marginal risk warning for severe thunderstorms across the state. The warning, which is at a level 1 out of 5, indicates the potential for isolated severe storms, especially in the Billings area. According to the NWS, these storms could bring wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail as large as quarters. Heavy rainfall may also occur in some areas, increasing the potential for localized flooding.

The most significant threat window extends from noon to midnight today, as storms are expected to develop during the afternoon and intensify as they move eastward into the evening. Residents with outdoor plans are advised to stay weather-aware and be prepared to seek shelter quickly if conditions worsen.

Looking ahead, the forecast for the rest of the week shows a mix of sun and clouds. On Tuesday, Billings can expect partly cloudy skies with a high of 95°F. Temperatures will moderate slightly on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. By Friday, the heat returns with a high of 94°F under clear skies, setting up for a warm start to the weekend.
