Tallahassee, FL – Drivers across the Florida Panhandle, Big Bend, and parts of southwest Georgia and southeast Alabama are waking up to areas of patchy but locally dense fog this morning, reducing visibility on several major roadways.
According to the US National Weather Service Tallahassee, the fog developed overnight and is expected to persist through the early morning commute, gradually improving after sunrise. Some areas could experience visibility below a quarter mile, particularly in low-lying regions and near rivers and wetlands.
Motorists are advised to slow down, increase following distances, and use low-beam headlights, even after sunrise, as fog can linger in shaded or coastal areas. The weather service also recommends allowing extra travel time this morning to ensure safe arrival at destinations.
No other significant weather hazards are expected today, with skies clearing later this morning and temperatures rising into the upper 70s. However, similar fog formation could occur again late tonight under calm and clear conditions.
