Macon, GA – A Forsyth woman was taken into custody Wednesday after a deputy reported she nearly caused a collision and was driving with an unrestrained child, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the report, a H.E.A.T. Unit deputy initiated a traffic stop after seeing the driver of a Lexus SUV abruptly turn from a traffic light into a gas station in front of another vehicle, allegedly almost causing a crash. Deputies said the woman then drove through the parking lot without stopping before exiting onto Pio Nono Avenue in Macon.

According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy found the driver, identified only as a Forsyth resident, was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt and had a small child sitting unrestrained in the front seat. The driver also allegedly had no insurance, and her license was suspended at the time of the incident.

The sheriff’s office reported that the woman was arrested on numerous traffic-related charges. The child was turned over to a relative who arrived at the scene.

Officials said the Lexus stopped in front of Deputy Dalton Palmer, who was operating a marked patrol unit when the incident occurred.

Authorities did not release additional details, including the child’s age or the full list of charges, but said the case remains under review.
