Macon, GA – A routine traffic stop on Eisenhower Parkway quickly escalated into a multi-charge arrest after a Bibb County Sheriff’s deputy observed a dangerous driving maneuver that nearly caused a crash, officials said.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, H.E.A.T. Unit Deputy Dalton Palmer initiated the stop after seeing a Cadillac abruptly change lanes in front of a semi-truck, narrowly avoiding a collision. During the stop, deputies determined the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and allegedly provided a false name.

Investigators later confirmed the driver was wanted on multiple active warrants, including identity fraud and forgery in the fourth degree out of Jones County, identity fraud out of Fayette County, and failure to appear charges. Authorities also said the driver allegedly had a suspended vehicle registration and was driving with a suspended license out of Glynn County.

During the investigation, deputies reportedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody and placed under arrest on multiple new charges in addition to the outstanding warrants.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office credited the H.E.A.T. (High Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) Unit with proactively targeting unsafe driving behaviors that often lead to more serious crimes and roadway hazards. Officials emphasized that traffic enforcement remains a key tool in preventing crashes and identifying individuals wanted for other offenses.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and authorities did not release the driver’s name as of publication. The case remains under investigation.

Residents who frequently travel along Eisenhower Parkway are reminded to drive cautiously and comply with seatbelt and licensing laws, as traffic enforcement efforts continue across Bibb County.
