Bibb County, GA – Drivers across Bibb County can expect stepped-up DUI and speeding enforcement starting this fall after the Sheriff’s Office received a $31,128 H.E.A.T. grant aimed at reducing dangerous driving and traffic deaths.

According to the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS), Bibb County is one of 26 Georgia agencies selected for the Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T.) grant for the 2026 federal fiscal year. The funding period begins October 1, 2025, and runs through September 30, 2026.

The Sheriff’s Office said the grant will support its H.E.A.T. Unit by developing strategies to reduce crashes caused by impaired driving, aggressive speeding, and unsafe driving behaviors. GOHS Director Allen Poole said crash data consistently shows that enforcement and public education remain two of the “most effective countermeasures” for reducing fatalities.

The H.E.A.T. program prioritizes jurisdictions with some of the highest rates of traffic crashes, serious injuries, and DUI-related incidents. Sheriff David Davis said the grant has long played a critical role in helping deputies address impaired and aggressive driving, adding that the program is “an essential resource” in ongoing efforts to keep Bibb County roads safer.

Throughout the year, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office will also participate in statewide safety campaigns such as “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Click It or Ticket,” and various coordinated GOHS mobilizations. These efforts include high-visibility patrols, sobriety checkpoints, and multi-jurisdiction road checks.
