Macon, GA – A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office H.E.A.T. Unit deputy arrested a driver suspected of being intoxicated following a late-night traffic stop in downtown Macon.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Dalton Palmer initiated the stop on Hemlock Street after noticing a tag light out on an Infiniti. The driver reportedly appeared confused, failed to follow clear instructions, and refused to exit the vehicle when asked.

Authorities said the man was taken into custody on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of an open container. Photos released by the department show several empty or partially consumed beverage cans inside the vehicle.

The driver was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center for booking. The sheriff’s office credited the H.E.A.T. Unit for its continued efforts to reduce impaired driving and keep Bibb County roadways safe.

Residents are reminded to drive sober and report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
