Ads promoting a “Wisco FreshMan Invasion” party are circulating, urging students to purchase tickets for an event scheduled from August 30 to August 31, 2024, at 975 University Avenue. The police stress that this event is a scam and tickets should not be purchased.
According to the UW-Madison Police Department’s Facebook post, scammers are promoting this and other parties, aiming to exploit students across the country. The fraudulent event claims to be hosted by “Michael” and is marketed as a freshman-only event, encouraging early ticket purchases.
Parents and students are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The police department urges the community to share this information widely to prevent further victimization.
