LAS VEGAS — As holiday crowds thin out, hotel and convention rates in Las Vegas typically drop in early January, making it one of the most budget-friendly times to visit.
Historically, the prices of hotels, conventions, and other tourist attractions drop after the Christmas holidays as holidaymakers head back to their home cities. The last week of December and the first week of January are one of the cheapest times to visit Las Vegas. Travel experts recommend booking mid-week rather than weekends, as that is when prices are known to increase. Downtown Las Vegas often has more budget-friendly options off the Strip.
Resorts like the Bellagio, MGM Grand Hotel, and ARIA have a Bright Nights Await Winter Offer that features discounts of up to 20% off room rates if booked before Jan. 6, 2026.
Events such as the Consumer Electronics Show, scheduled for Jan. 6–9, 2026, often result in higher hotel rates and limited availability. Hotels are known to sell out quickly during that period. The SHOT Show will be held from Jan. 20–23. Avoiding this time period or booking months in advance is strongly recommended. For example, last year, CES saw over 142,000 attendees, and in 2024, there were around 153,000 hotel rooms, leaving very little wiggle room in hotel availability, which drove prices up.
