Champaign, IL – Central Illinois is gearing up for a week of thunderstorms and fluctuating temperatures as remnants of post-tropical depression Beryl move into the area. Forecasters predict increased chances of thunderstorms starting today, with a 20% chance this afternoon northwest of the Illinois River and temperatures reaching up to 89 degrees.
According to the US National Weather Service Central Illinois, Monday’s forecast shows a 20-60% chance of thunderstorms, especially west of I-55, with highs ranging from 84 to 92 degrees. The weather remains volatile on Tuesday, with a 40-60% chance of thunderstorms and temperatures from 78 to 83 degrees.
By midweek, Beryl is expected to bring significant weather changes. Wednesday could see 30-60% chance of thunderstorms, becoming breezy with temperatures between 80 and 85 degrees. Thursday holds a slight chance of thunderstorms at 20%, with highs from 83 to 88 degrees.
