Berwyn, IL – The City of Berwyn will host its Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day on October 9, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. This community event, held in alignment with International Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day, aims to raise awareness about pedestrian and bicyclist safety. The event, stationed at the Berwyn 16th Street Firehouse, 6615 16th Street, invites students and their families to participate.

According to city officials, the initiative encourages students to walk or bike to school safely, either individually or in groups. Participants will have access to pedestrian travel resources provided by the Illinois Tollway. The city also offers a morning snack for students to enjoy at the City Pop Up Site.

Students from Morton High School can join a pop-up crossing guard job recruitment at the event and provide feedback on safety concerns using the Berwyn Walkability Survey. City Safe School Travel Maps are available for download to help participants plan their route.

Participants are advised to follow bike safety rules, including using designated lanes, riding in the same direction as traffic, and announcing when passing pedestrians. This annual event not only promotes safety but also fosters community spirit in Berwyn.
