Reading, PA – Pennsylvania State Police are renewing their call for information in the unsolved 2008 homicide of Gary Redner, with a $5,000 reward still being offered for any tip that leads to an arrest or resolution in the case.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Investigation Assessment Unit, Redner — the 55-year-old executive vice president of Redner’s Warehouse Markets — was found severely beaten on March 9, 2008, in the 400 block of Reber’s Bridge Road in Lower Heidelberg Township, Berks County. Investigators said Redner suffered fatal blunt force trauma to the head.

State Police report that Redner was allegedly confronted near the driver side of his vehicle in the driveway of his home before fleeing through a wooded area. He was then confronted again on a neighboring property where he was fatally attacked. Authorities noted that $270 in currency was still inside his wallet at the scene.

Redner was last seen alive leaving Ganley’s Pub — located just a quarter-mile from his residence — around 7 p.m. on March 8, 2008. Police say they continue to assess all leads as part of the long-running investigation.
