Falling Waters, West Virginia – A Baltimore man was arrested after shots were fired into a Falling Waters home early Wednesday, prompting a multi-agency investigation.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Central Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 5:23 a.m. Feb. 18 reporting gunfire in the area of Cramford Street. The caller advised that an individual had allegedly discharged a firearm into their residence.

Deputies responded immediately and located multiple spent shell casings outside the home. Officers secured the perimeter and conducted a protective sweep. The residence was unoccupied at the time of deputies’ arrival, and no injuries were reported.

Deputy Giangiola of the Criminal Investigations Division assumed investigative responsibilities. Detectives canvassed the area and obtained surveillance footage from nearby residences. The footage allegedly provided a suspect description and identifying characteristics of a vehicle believed to be involved.

During coordinated patrol efforts, deputies located a vehicle matching that description in a nearby guest parking area. The vehicle displayed visible bullet damage to the hood and grille.

At approximately 6:57 a.m., Sgt. Ennis observed a male subject matching the suspect description. When deputies attempted contact, the individual allegedly fled on foot. Deputies Northcraft, McCulley, Peck and Meeks initiated a brief foot pursuit and apprehended the suspect without further incident.

Authorities identified the suspect as Maurice McMillan, 30, of Baltimore, Maryland. McMillan was transported to Eastern Regional Jail for arraignment on charges of fleeing on foot, obstructing an officer, wanton endangerment and prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

This early-morning incident may be of particular concern to residents and commuters in the Falling Waters area.
